We provide information and support regarding Victoria’s road safety camera system. We are also an alternative avenue for complaint and enquiry about the system. The Office of the Road Safety Commissioner is independent of government.
Enquiries and complaints about Victoria’s road safety camera system

The Commissioner can start an independent investigation regarding any aspect of the road safety camera system. The Commissioner can then make recommendations to the Victorian Minister for Police based on the findings.
Contact the Commissioner
Send your send feedback about Victoria’s road safety camera system online
The Commissioner receives feedback about any Victorian road safety camera and conducts investigations into any potential systemic issues. Feedback can be submitted by, or on behalf of, any person who is affected by the speed camera system.
Identifying systemic issues
The Commissioner must check the accuracy and reliability of road safety cameras (fixed and mobile) at least annually. The Commissioner can also investigate the integrity, accuracy or efficiency of the Victorian road safety camera system at any time.
The Commissioner can investigate any complaints made about Victoria’s road safety camera system regarding potential systemic issues, but has no role in the issuing or withdrawal of individual infringements.
For example, if there is a pattern with the type of complaints received or a particularly high number of comments received about one location or camera, then the Commissioner may investigate that issue, location or system, and make recommendations to the Victorian Minister for Police.
The Commissioner must report findings annually to the Victorian Parliament and can report to the Minister for Police with recommendations to address issues found at any time.
The Commissioner must keep records of any investigations undertaken and correspondence received even if the correspondent has been referred to another authority for assistance with their matter.
Common enquiries outside of the Road Safety Camera Commission’s authority
Our primary focus is supporting and independent monitoring of the accuracy, integrity and efficiency of Victoria’s road safety camera system. However we recognise that some people might require assistance and information from other agencies.
