2022–23 Annual Report

November 1 2023

The Road Safety Camera Commissioner Annual Report 2022–2023 has been tabled in the Victorian Parliament and provides an account of the work of the Office of the Road Safety Camera Commissioner throughout the 2022–23 financial year.

The annual report provides an oversight of the road safety camera system and accounts for its performance and the delivery of outputs and services carried out during the reporting period.

This annual report covers the first year of Commissioner Neville Taylor’s tenure and details the findings and recommendations made in an investigation he initiated – the Nepean Highway Investigation.  The Commissioner has also reported on two significant governance improvements developed by the Department of Justice and Community Safety to enhance the Commissioner’s oversight of the road safety camera system through prompt notification of issues identified and the progression and delivery of outstanding recommendations made.  Finally, the report provides information about the launch of a major new camera technology in Victoria to detect distracted driving and seatbelt offences.
