Investigation into infringements issued at Keilor Park Drive - June 2013

August 7 2013

On 30 June 2013, 980 motorists received infringements due to excess speeds detected by the road safety camera at Keilor Park Drive Bridge in road works zone on the Western Ring Road.

The Road Safety Commissioner carried out an investigation into the accuracy and reliability of the camera at the location, the infringements issued, and signage. He found the cameras were working accurately and that the zone in question had inadequate signage to advise drivers of the change in speed limits.

The Commissioner recommended that Victoria Police withdraw any infringement notices made for speeding and issue official warnings in their place. Victoria Police acted on this recommendation.
