Interim report into impact on fixed road safety cameras operating in Victoria by malicious software

July 7 2017

The Minister for Police, The Honourable Lisa Neville MP, asked me to investigate the impact on fixed road safety cameras operating in Victoria by malicious software. The Minister wants to ensure the accuracy, reliability and integrity of the road safety camera system.

I am conscious of the need to minimise any delay in the justice system and to assist members of the public to deal with any infringement questions expeditiously. For this reason an interim report has been completed. My interim report deals with aspects of the viral infection, the integrity of the data , and the mechanisms which construct and communicate infringement data.

My intention is to deliver a further report dealing with other details of the incidents in due course.
